Northwest Medical Center adds Advanced MRI Technology to Community
To continue its tradition of providing exceptional community health care, Northwest Medical Center now has a permanent MRI on-site. With the new MRI, patients will no longer have to wait for the mobile MRI unit or travel to another facility when they need an exam. The new system is permanently located at the medical center.
Everyone is invited to take a tour of our new MRI addition adjacent to our Outpatient Clinic. Please call Connie Worden at 660-726-3941 to schedule a time to visit.
About MRI
MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, is a noninvasive medical exam that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. An MRI uses a powerful magnet, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed images of the body including organs, soft tissues and bone.
An MRI typically is used to find problems such as tumors, bleeding, infection and injury, and can be more effective in detection and diagnosis than other imaging methods such as X-ray, ultrasound or CT scans.
Appointment Times
Your doctor will schedule an appointment for you. The available times are 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday. We will have Saturday hours in the future.
Patient Benefits
The new MRI will provide numerous patient benefits, including:
Convenience
With the MRI located at the medical center, patients will not have to walk or be transferred outside to the mobile unit. The fixed unit also allows Northwest Medical Center to schedule exams based on patient needs and not the mobile unit’s schedule.
Comfort
Many exams can be conducted with the patient’s head and feet outside of the magnet, helping to reduce discomfort and feelings of claustrophobia.
Speed
Exams can be performed in less time due to the MRI’s advanced technology.
Diagnostic Confidence
The strong magnet produces outstanding, detailed images for our physicians.
