Payment for Inpatient Services
Hospital bills are due and payable at the time of your discharge unless payment is being made by your insurance company. If you do not have insurance, a representative of the business office will contact you during your stay to make payment arrangements. Your bill will include only the services and supplies rendered by the hospital. Your physician will bill you separately.
Because it takes 24 hours for charges to be posted, treatments and medications received just before your discharge may not appear on your first statement. If you pay cash for your hospitalization at the time of discharge, an itemized bill will be mailed to you soon after. For patients with insurance, statements will be mailed to you until the balance is received in full.
Payment for Outpatient Services
Payment is due for outpatient services at the time the services are rendered unless you have insurance. The hospital will file all insurance claims for you. You will receive a statement either when the balance is paid in full or when your insurance company has fulfilled its financial obligation.
Insurance
Although your insurance is a private contract between you and your insurance company, the hospital is happy to help you with your claims. In order to do this, we need the following information:
- Name of your insurance company
- Policyholder’s name and policy number
- (For group policies) The name and address of the employer and the group claim form.
At the time you are admitted, you will be asked to assign your insurance benefits to the hospital unless you plan to pay the bill in full when you are dismissed. With this information, the hospital will determine your insurance company’s responsibility and your financial obligation.

Medicare
Medicare patients must meet the deductible and co-insurance standards required by law. If a Medicare patient prefers a private room, the difference in cost between a private room and a semi-private room must be paid by the patient. Also, Medicare does not pay for “take home” medications. Medicare
patients should be certain that all required forms are completed to insure maximum benefits. If
you are employed and receiving Medicare benefits along with group
coverage, we need to know which one is primary. Please be aware that some service providers may bill seperatly for their services.
Debit and Credit Card Payments
Northwest Medical Center also accepts debit and credit card payments at the front desk in the hospital or at our adjacent billing office.
